My sweet mother! You are gone and yet have a way of showing up here on the earth when I least expect it. You wipe my tears. Smile courageously and nod to me in the way you always have.. So tonight as I was editing my book for second release, I find your very lucid words in the beginning of my book and I wanted them to be here for all to see.. I love you and miss you!1
Words! Words crushed us at times! And the WORDS brought us together and saved us and still are. I love you more than ever ….
How I wish I would have told you and shared my deepest fears and concerns when I made that regretful choice. All I can hope is that you are with her and she is with you! Hold her tight as i find new words to write to describe my days, moments and imagination of life here without you.
As I read To Be a Mother, I did so with pride, humility, and sometimes sadness, realizing the trauma my daughter endured during her childhood and young adulthood. As Deanna’s mother, I have asked her forgiveness for allowing her to struggle through the dysfunction of our family.
Despite her difficult childhood, Deanna has grown into a lovely, Christian woman and has found healing through Christ. Even through her sorrow and grief, she ultimately remained strong by remembering that Jesus was with her. Today, she has a true love for God and is an inspiration to me and many others. I am proud of her for being a good mother to my six wonderful grandchildren and for having the courage to reveal her story in this book.
I am also proud of Deanna for what she is doing for the pro-life movement by sharing her story of post-abortive forgiveness and hope. May all who read this be encouraged by knowing that although you may feel guilty for past choices and even question whether God still loves you, all you have to do is believe in Him and call to Him, and He will forgive you. He is truly a loving God who knows you better than you know yourself. He will be at your side no matter what your sins may be. Once you ask for forgive- ness, He is always there for you. Praise God!
We will all always remember Aubrey. No child could ever replace her in our lives. But we are grateful to have the reassurance that as we truly believe in God, someday we will be reunited with precious, innocent Aubrey Deanna, who is now in the loving arms of Jesus.
