RAISING KIDS FOR GREATNESS! THIS CHILD HELPED US BUILD A MASSIVE BUSINESS! ALEC…
My son Alec is adopted from the Ukraine.
He was abandoned at the hospital at 2 days old and lived in an orphanage until we adopted him at the age of 5 1/2 years. At birth he was labeled “invalid” due to a chronic but manageable health condition.
He would have kept that label had a family not come to adopt him.
Alec inspired us to seek a work-from-home option for our large family.
We were struggling financially and also needed the super-foods this product line offered. This opportunity allowed us to build a huge team of families who seek to be healthy and prosperous forever families. We never would have found this business had we not been looking for first class nutrition for him and his siblings.
In addition, had we not adopted Alec (the child labeled ‘invalid’) we never would have found our fortune and you would not be looking at pictures of him playing in the sand a few feet from a full service resort in Florida.
Alec was just about to be sent to an orphanage that was known to have children his age die within 6 months of arriving there due to the rampant abuse of its residents. This orphanage (internat) had people as old as 50 there and was more like a mental hospital. Alec never gave up believing that his situation would change.
There are many people out there who feel INVALIDATED.
Some of you may wonder if your life is even worth living or if you have contributed anything of value to this world. Adopting Alec has taught us that taking one step to extend yourself toward helping another person can drastically change your life. If you feel invalidated, extend yourself to another human being and keep serving others with love. You may see a drastic improvement in your life as well…just know that you are relevant and loved.
So, how do you raise kids for greatness?
I will be talking about this as it pertains to all of my kids in additional posts.
Alec has learned to expect awesomeness in his life. He is persistent, determined, resilient, extremely positive, tenacious, argumentative and highly energetic. We expect great things from him because all of his attributes that can be seen as ‘annoying’ by some are also his greatest gifts. For example, when he questions everything over simply obeying a direction, these things can be seen as a detriment. But we recognized that his inquisitive, ‘take nothing at face-value’ attitude will be an asset.
Alec already wants to build a business, he is interested in building structures and businesses.
We encourage him. If you have a child who is exceptionally energetic and may even be a problem in school (check out this blog post about 3rd Grade mandatory retention in Florida), consider the fact that he may just be unique and color outside of the lines because he sees the world in a special way. He is visionary.
We raise kids for greatness by intentionally speaking greatness into them and encouraging them to pursue their interests. We support them when the world invalidates them.
Never invalidate anyone…
Nobody is counted out from their success unless they are left alone to shrink in that label.
Defy the labels…
defy the word curses that claim you are invalid…
You are valid…and like Alec you are destined to greatness.
Do not ever give up on your kids…but also…do not give up on yourself because you are also made to change the world like Alec changed ours…
DON’T INVALIDATE YOURSELF!
